I installed Win 10 fall creators edition last week.

I had been using the netplwiz tool to automatically sign into Windows 10.

netplwiz does still sign in automatically to win 10 following a reboot of Windows.

But, there are major problems .
The start button on the task bar does nothing. The start menu does not open.
The action center button on the task bar does nothing. No notification center.

Does anyone have a solution?
Is there a newer version of netplwiz?

As the official release of FCU is not out yet, I would hold off and until it is (TODAY) and use the MCT and do clean install.

bass fisher,
Please let me know your experiences once you update with netplwiz.

The version I installed is Win 10 version 1709.
It was my understanding that this was the final build before official release.

I know I really should do a clean install. I may finally do it this time. The problem for me is the time it takes to reinstall and re-configure all the software I use.

Davehc,
Are you using netplwiz to automatically sign in?
Does the start button and windows key work for you?

Yes. Just redid it to make sure. Still no problem. Start button is also working.

That's what I would try.
Undo it, reboot and then redo it to see if that fixes the issue.

Although that sounds like profile corruption
I would try booting into Safe Mode, then I would try Safe Mode with Networking and then a Normal boot to see if that sorted anything out.

No rudeness intended, but, think the answer could lie in from where you downloaded it five days before its release.

Davehc,
I downloaded the Win 10 update from Microsoft.
Winver says: Version 1709 (OS build 16299.19)

This may be something in my setup and not a general problem.
the problem may be in the precise version of netplwiz on my system. Or maybe I am using netplwiz incorrectly.

I may have misunderstood you.
Your original: "I installed Win 10 fall creators edition last week."
The download, to which you refer, was only released on the Microsoft sites, yesterday.

Dave,
I signed up for Windows Insider Program--> Release Preview.
That meant I got the final build a little early.

I am seeing some changes regarding the log in. It seems to effect wireless connectivity and may be related to Windows Hello or a vPro processor. If I pin it down, I will post back.

Solved!!!
I had several user accounts that were left over from Windows 7 that I had forgotten about.

It turns out that I had 2 admin accounts with the same username but with 2 different email addresses.
Before the Fall 2017 Creators build this was not a problem.

When I deleted the second account, that I rarely used, netplwiz worked and automatically logged me in after a Windows reboot.
