SOLVED Notification missing

Before removing an external device, I click on the taskbar icon to get the message "eject my device". I then click on that message in order to get some sort of follow-up, "okay to remove device". However, today, that follow-up message doesn't arrive.

Is it safe to remove the device without getting the "okay" message?

Sure. Just make sure it is not receiving any info (updates etc)

My "eject" notification now works. Under Windows Settings/Notifications a couple of the notification bubbles were disabled. I turned them on and now my audible and visual "okay to remove device" works.
