It looks like there is a bug affecting a lot of Outlook users, where the app will crash within moments of launching it. Microsoft released a little confirmation on twitter:

Thankfully some other twitter users have come up with a workaround until this is patched:
  1. Click Start and Type CMD
  2. Right Click CMD and choose “Run As Administrator
  3. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun
  4. Type, officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12827.20470
  5. In case you get the “Something went wrong” error message use this command instead of the one on Step-4: officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12527.20880
