On forums, others as well as this one, I often see helpful suggestions in ways to add or alter registry entries.
I have, from time to time, offered such myself.
These, in most cases, undoubtably work. However, it should be pointed out than in most of the accumulative updates, and always in the new build updates, a new registry is also included. This will put the problem back into the users installation, unless the "bug" has, consequently, been attended to by MS.
A way to circumvent this irritation, is to keep a copy of the help suggestion, and reapply it when the error or failure reappears.
This will work in most cases, although, on seldom occasions, the particular item has been changed by the MS update and, subsequently, the "fix" will not work.. In that case, hang around until someone comes up with yet another overriding fix.
