I am just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Out of the blue, the search windows box in the bottom toolbar opens and blacks out one third of the screen. I am sick and tired of it interfering with what I am doing online. Is there any way this box can be removed or disabled?

Hello Sarina and welcome to the forum.
You don't mention what type of system you are using, but.....
Sometimes on laptops this behavior can be caused by overly sensitive settings for the trackpad gesture controls. You might want to investigate that if that is an option.
Otherwise you can set the search (Cortana) utility to icon or hidden, either of which might produce some relief to your problem.

Got the same problem not a while ago. But I disabled the function, and afterwards just used KrojamSoft FilesSearch Tool for the rest. Couldn't risk that much
