It makes sense to start to merge their Phone / Tablet / Console / Desktop operating systems - but I can imagine this isn't going to be easy!

I'm particularly interested with what they do to Windows RT. They're going to have to become a major mobile/tablet player in the very near future, or they'll miss out hugely in future years.

When I read articles such as these, an digest the contents, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that there has been some misunderstanding from the pundits. I really am believing that Windows 9 is turning out to be the biggest non-event that ever happened in IT. Call it what you will, but the alleged Windows 9 seems to have been a misunderstanding and confusion with (also alleged!) Windows 8.2, currently now being labelled "Threshold" Both of these two authors get as many rumours wrong as they get right, so it is becoming a "wait and see" game. It is also significant that, even since Windows XP, both authors quote "sources" and never, to this day, with amplification of what those sources are!
