I am running Windows 10 build # 14393.693 and I have been trying to create separate virtual desktops. I was of the opinion that you click on Task View and then select New Desktop and the new icon shows a blank desktop with the current wallpaper. When I click on this new desktop, it is a clone of my old desktop complete with all my icons. Am I missing something here? I thought I would have a blank desktop and could then place whatever icons for programs that are similar and select this desktop when wanting to perform that task such as video editing, etc. What am I missing here?

Task view is just a generic (poor boys) multi monitor setup. You're basically creating additional monitors. As with a multi monitor setup...it's to use more then 1 open window on each monitor and that is it.
