Unable to Log In to Windows 10 Despite Correct Password and Internet Connection

I can’t log into Windows 10 even though my password is correct and I’m connected to the internet. When I try to change the password, it loops back to the login screen. Other options, like Command Prompt or Safe Mode, also require a password.

I have a bootable USB and can see that my data is still there, so it seems to be a configuration or user profile issue.

I’m stuck at the login screen but can modify files when booting from the USB. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Thanks!

I had the a similar problem recently. My machine didn't take my password. (I hadn't changed it).

I started it and stopped it several times until I got a prompt at the bottom right to push f12 to start in safe mode (or maybe it said diagnostic). I restarted it while pushing f12. I got a diagnostic screen that scanned about10% of the HD then asked me if I wanted to scan the rest of the HD. I pressed Y and let it do whatever it does.

It recognizes my password now.
