SOLVED (unofficial?) Windows 10 RS3 Media Creation Tool is out

The new media creation tool is out (build# 10.0.16299.15) and will create an ISO with the
build# 16299.15.rs3_release.170928-1534

This tool is not the final tool yet as steps need to be followed:

download files:
1. http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-48C3-A25D-402F123676D3/MediaCreationTool.exe
2. http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-4487-83DF-4241D2EA79F7/products_20171005.cab

rename file products_20171005.cab to products․cab,
put file products․cab in the same folder where the file MediaCreationTool.exe
and run MediaCreationTool.exe /selfhost
save boot ISO ...

Alright, installation finished and this came out:

except one driver Windows has installed all the hardware I have on this computer....

Can you manually check Windows Update again and see if you now get the latest cumulative update which should bump that build to 16299.19

only updates that were available are Windows defender and the MSRT definitions. I am guessing that the 16299.19 will be included in the very official release....

Funny thing though is that the MSRT shows that it is made for the Insider Preview and Server Technical Preview .

I had the same issue with 16299.15 and the same as you with Defender and MSRT.
It would not find, let alone install the Cumulative Update to bump it to 16299.19.
So I temporarily rejoined the insider program "SLOW" ring and it picked it up right away and installed it, no problem.
Strange that for some reason it seems only available, at least for now, to Insiders

So now I've gone back yet again and left the insider program (completely) choosing this option

Just as a test and after a reboot I am left on 16299.19

So now I'll wait again and see if this machine will get updates properly or if it will ignore future Cumulative Updates.

I figured this may be a transitional between the Insider and the RTM version.
I even found the CU in cab form online:

No doubt that it's definitely a transition period.
Just checked the update catalog and couldn't find KB4043961 anywhere.
That's probably the only source I would feel confident in using.
I suppose I can wait another three days for everything to shake out and settle down.

Sort of looking forward to doing a wipe and clean install of the final product on my production machine and wanted to get ahead of the curve if I could but they seem to be making that a bit difficult at the moment.
So I'll wait until I can get my hands on "the" legitimate ISO.
