The question is: when I get to step "Upgrade this PC now" and when I finish setup will my data be erased from the hard disc?

Don't use that option.
Instead select the option " Create installation media for another PC".
That will start creating an ISO file.
(You can burn it to a bootable media later on. This method does not require it ).

After you have created the ISO file.................
Right click at the ISO > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
Installation will begin. This method allows you to keep your files, settings and apps.
This method does not require product key.
Activation will be automatic.
