If they didn't get your money for Windows 7 or 8, they feel it is time you paid for their software again. Truthfully I don't blame them and completely shocked Windows 7 will be a free upgrade. I wouldn't have expected Windows 8 to be free much less Windows 7. And asking for Windows XP to be free would be too much.

Probably because XP has dropped off the MS support timeframe. XP is 4 generations of OS's behind.
