Is the computer equipped with a hard disk activity light?
Do you see any flashing or hear any thing from the hard disk that might indicate something is still going on?
Have you tried using Ctrl + Alt + Delete keyboard combination to see if that produces anything?
87% for 27 hours seems extraordinarily long and far exceeds anything that I have personally experienced or even heard of.
Did you backup all your critical files before attempting the upgrade?
Did you perhaps image the hard drive before going forward?
