Don't waste your time on the rudimentary app called Mail.

Use Windows Live Mail as your email client, and setup your outlook.com and Verizon.net accounts into it.

I have a POP account ( bell.net) and a Hotmail account configured in Windows Live Mail.
That's what I have been doing since Vista.
