I have the initial version of Windows 10 (10240) on a separate HDD just to play with it. Until Version 17146 I was able to check the actual Version by checking the Version# of MS Edge since it followed the cumulative updates in version#'s.
This is not the case anymore. I was neglecting this installation a little but have recently installed KB3210720 which should bring the version# to 17236.

My question now is this: Is there a way to find out if I have the latest version??

there is nothing listed under [System] - [About] or in the [System info]
I can't even find anything in the Registry that points to the OS Build beside these keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ApplicabilityEvaluationCache\Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10240.17236.1.3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect\Microsoft-Windows-CoreCountrySpecificEdition~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~0.0.0.0\Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10240.17236.1.3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect\Microsoft-Windows-CoreEdition~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~0.0.0.0\Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10240.17236.1.3

and a few more for other editions but nothing that indicates a certain OS Build

It is also in
Start menu - administrative tools - System information
or, right click of the start orb and type Winver in the "Run" box

I think you know, but, this is the latest.

Does anybody actually read what is posted??
I extra wrote the built number in RED LETTERS -->> 10240 not 14393.
"winver" does only show 10240 not 10240.17236. Sysinfo does the same

I know the latest is 14393.693, that is not the point....

Well, what I would like to know is a way to find out if I have the latest Version on the 10240 but I cannot find a way like it is in the 10586 or 14393 where you just look at the Sys Info or punch in WINVER to find that out. I thought there may be a way to do something like that in the initial version as well but it really seems to be NOT the case at all. I was hoping someone might have known a way beside the obvious.
Apparently the only way to find out is to look at the installed updates and check which updates and for what they are meant to be.

I have to admit that I neglected above quote in the opening post, that is on me.

That is what I meant with checking the updates.

So, since there is not really a solution for this issue, I am gonna leave it at that and mark the thread as 'solved' ..
