Why does Synaptics Clickpad keep enabling itself after I have disabled it?

About a week ago (I think) I noticed my Synaptics Clickpad became enabled even though I had disabled it earlier. So I disabled it again, checked to insure it was disabled, and continued using my machine. When I leave the machine for a while, I usually put it in sleep mode. Every time I return to the machine and wake it up, the clickpad has become enabled again. How do I stop this from happening?

Hi Bruce,

Welcome to the Forum.

How precisely are you disabling Synaptics Clickpad?

Some keyboards have a physical switch to turn it off.

Also HP's Support Assistant has an option to disable it:
  • HP Support Assistant > Printers and Accessories > Keyboard and Mouse > Pointing Devices (mouse touchpad settings)

Did what you suggest. The same panel appears in HP Support Assistant as the one in Windows System. It shows as disabled which is correct. I'll wait and see if it stays disabled. Not a showstopper just annoying.
