Window size & location manager's failure

In x32Win10ProV22H2, I want certain open windows to be of a particular size and in a particular location. Actual Windows Management offered to achieve that, and did, except for some windows. After much trial and error, I looked for another program and found ZMover, which could manage many of the windows that AWM failed with. But for BOTH programs, success was only temporary and SOME windows reverted to a 'default of their own'. I would like to understand what might be causing the temporariness of success, and, better still, how to covert that to permanence.
