I have a Nikon D3200. I am trying to use my camera as a webcam and to be controlled remotely from my PC. The drivers have installed properly, but the camera is recognized as a portable device and not an imaging device. Any idea what i can do to fix this.

I have the identical camera and I don't think that it is possible to do what you are attempting, natively.
The default USB connection serves as USB MTP for file transfer of images between your camera and Windows 10.
I'm pretty sure it would require some type of third party software to accomplish it.
There are a few out there that say they can do this, like......

But by the time you spend the money to get some third party software that may or may not work as you want, you'd probably be better off investing in an actual Web Cam.
