SOLVED Windows 10 upgrade on ACER Laptop now my password won't work.

Windows 10 upgrade on ACER Laptop now my password won't work, so I removed the battery and allowed the machine to stand overnight, and hey presto it worked, but only once. Repeated the exercise and it worked again, but only once. Does anyone have a permanent solution. Ideally I would like to go back to Win 7, as Win 10 appears to be nothing but problems.
