Windows 10 volume issue: random volume fluctuations

It seems there's an issue with my computer where the volume randomly changes from low to high on its own. The volume slider remains constant, but the actual sound fluctuates. Initially, I noticed this while watching YouTube videos and thought it might be a glitch with the site. However after experiencing this on multiple media players, I realized it's related to my computer. This issue began after upgrading to Windows 10 so I suspect it might be a Windows 10 problem. Does anyone have more information on this or know how to fix it? I'm getting really frustrated
