Backup date not changing in backup

Today I noticed that in backup, it said my last backup was Nov 26 although it is set to back up every hour. I clicked to back up now and it appeared to work, but the date stayed the same. I did it several times with the same result. I back up wireless to a hard drive and the new files appear to be on the drive. Any suggestions as to the problem or solution?
