Backup doesn't complete and gives the above error code. I have Build 1809. Tried backing up to both Internal Drive and external drive. Same result.

Hi zalophus,

are you using Windows own tools or a 3rd party app?.:confused::confused: Copy and paste any files you need to an external storage device for that just in case scenario, if things go south, you have at least all your files backed up even if you have to do a fresh install. :):):)

Windows own tools. FYi the error results because "THE MEDIA IS WRITE PROTECTED". Any solutions for that come to mind?

Do you have more than one account on your PC?, it may be due to you trying to do a back-up using a non admin account?. ;)

Right click your files and check the properties, it may be a permission error if you aren't the owner (admin)?. :)

If you are doing a backup, what kind? Are you using the Win 7 file backup?

Do the drives you are trying to access already have a file backup on them and enough room for the backup?

Are the drives encrypted or otherwise not available for your use?

Windows may not want to access a location for different reasons. Possibly you are trying to overwrite something it won't allow. Maybe the process cannot access a specific file location or possibly it doesn't have the privileges to access the area. If you were trying to write to a location which is part of the basic Windows install, it may not allow that.
