Windows-7 Backup (on Windows-10) produces an error 0x8078005D. I have solved this by unregistering wmiutils.dll, rebooting, registering wmiutils.dll, and finally rebooting again. After this the backup runs successfully. The command is run from Windows PowerShell (Admin): regsvr32 /u wmiutils.dll to unregister, regsvr32 wmiutils.dll to register.

The puzzle is that this problem has occurred several times in the past 6 months.

Nice to have a solution, but the puzzle remains. No..I am not using a registry cleaner.

It just happened to be because it rebooted in the middle of the backup for service pack install. Go figure.
