Have tried unsuccessfully to install an app to play blu-ray discs. If someone has had success getting their laptop to play blu-ray on windows 10 please specify which ones are useable. greatly appreciated
Download this app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10. See screenshots, read the latest customer reviews, and compare ratings for Super Media Player - Play DVD, Blu-ray, CD, SVCD, Movie, Video & Audio.
I would absolutely NOT download the Super Media Player from the Microsoft store. Reason? The author ripped off Video Lan Client (VLC) for their own gain.

Super Media Player - Plays all the same formats as VLC. What a coincidence. In-app purchases? No thanks.
Disappointing that Microsoft doesn't do a better job of screening apps in its store, but then neither do any of other platforms (Android,IOS,Chrome).
VLC is free and open source. Has been for many many years, and a trusted source. Highly recommended. If VLC can't play it, it's not a proper video source.

AFAIK....playing a BlueRay DVD requires a BlueRay optical drive.
If you have a regular external DVD player connected to your TV and put in a blueray disc your playback resolution is going to be that of a built in rez of standard DVD player. It will not play it at 720/1080. That rez is part of the BlueRay player.
If the PC in question doesn't have a BlueRay optical drive....it will play the disk, just not at 720/1080. Downloading any kind software will not make it do so.
