Buying Windows 10?

I have a Windows 7 OS and a lot of Hard Drives on my computer so I just unhook the hard drive with Windows 7 and on another drive I installed Windows 10. So before I get to carried away, when Windows 10 hits the public will I have to reinstall it on another hard drive that I have Windows 8 for an upgrade or can I keep the Windows 10 I have and re-install. I don't care about the cost I just don't want to fully build a Windows 10 computer only to re-install?

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for anyone that has a valid Windows 7 or 8 license. The Windows 10 TP will also be allowed an upgrade path to the final release. What is unclear at this point is how exactly one would activate Windows 10 Upgrade using a Windows 7 or 8 license. So basically at this point no one knows the answer to your main question, sorry.
