Changing the desktop background is the quickest way to personalise your computer - something that almost all of us will do when we create a new account. If you'd like the change the desktop, begin by Right Clicking the desktop and then select Personalise:

I would like to expand on the Slideshow option if I may as it is my favorite desktop personalization. I create a new folder and place a dozen or so of my favorite photos in it. Then I can browse for it easily after selecting Slideshow instead of picture for the background.
