Regardless of whether I am logged on or not, if I put my system in sleep? When I try and wake it up, mouse/keyboard won't work and it isn't a black screen but a screen that has squiggly lines. No sound. Looks like when a tv station goes off the air?

Checked power and I've put never and I've tried it w/allowing sleep. I have to hold the power button on tower to force shut down....then I can restart it.

This started about 2 weeks ago. I have a Dell that came w/win 10. Home user. Help please!

Have you tried just a quick press on the power key, then wait a few seconds?

Can you also check to see that your keyboard/mouse are allowed to wake your PC?
  • Right click the start button > Click Device Manager
  • Find your keyboard and mouse listed in device manager (likely under the "Keyboards" and "mice and other pointing devices" entries)
  • Right click the entry > select Properties
  • Go to the Power Management tab
  • Make sure that Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.
  • Click OK
