How do I disable the mouse capacity of waking both a sleeping computer and turning it on after the computer had been shut down?

To simplify things.Take the battery out or unplug and remove the mouse.

I'm not sure that I would want to do that, but If I did, I'd probably uncheck the box in power management.
You may have to also check both places including HID as it may be listed twice.

Trouble Now that's strange! I'm running Windows 10 Pro and don't have a power option in HID-compliant mouse properties.

Did you check both places. Mice and other pointing devices as well as Human Interface Devices.
IDK.... maybe there is a difference depending on the type of mouse. Mine is listed, with power management tab and the ability to uncheck the box in both places.

Trouble Sorry about that. I got thinking after I posted. I'm normally logged ON as user and the power option isn't an option in either place. Just logged on as PC Administrator and the power option is available. Makes sense now.
We don't want any unauthorized changes to take effect.
