Fall creator update killed windows spotlight :-(

I was very pleased by using windows spotlight on the lock and sign on screen, but the fun has gone

Funktionsopdatering til Windows 10, version 1709 installed 20/11 2017 simply removed this function.

When I go to Personalization > Lock screen I can see Spotlight is still an option in the drop menu.

on my system it is not selectable, it is greyed out.
I can select spotlight but the selection is not saved.

have you activated your version of W10?, if you haven't, it won't let you make any changes!.

it is activated and linked to my windows account.
