Getting Back To Google

My old pc used to get back to an empty google box when I went backwards out of a website
My new one doesn't and I have to load google from favourites to get a google box

With Chrome I have Google as the initial screen on a new tab. When I do something in that tab and then go back it will get to the newtab showing Google. Edge could easily have such a thing and maybe it will someday. Firefox; it isn't necessary as one can force the search window to be Google

I don't have chrome, and don't want to change to something new again. With the trouble I am having with windows 10, I can only think that something newer will be worse.

But adding to my initial complaint - when I open a new tab, my old system would straightaway produce a google box. Now I have to select google from my favourites

You have to go in to the browser settings, and set google.com as the home page.
