Help me to change the desktop icons - text colour...

Title.
I just want to change the desktop shortcuts' text to black instead of white. The only way so far I have managed to do it is by having a plain white background, but then as soon as I put my custom background back on (which is light grey) it changes back to white text.
Can anyone let me know how this can be achieved?
