SOLVED HP Elite x3 on/off problems

The only way I can turn my phone on is by plugging it in to the charger. Everything works fine while it is on. Apps, files, no problems until it turns off. I have no control over when it comes on and when it goes off. None of the buttons have any effect.

The phone is a Windows 10 phone with all the current updates. It is a little over a year old, out of warranty. Where can I get some help with this? It has been a very good phone, and I don't want t give up on it.

Thank you for your suggestion. It took me to Windows Device Repair Tool (WDRT) which is a very good option except that it requires the buttons on the phone to work...and they don't. It looks like the buttons may be the problem. I'll have to find some place that can repair the hardware. Thanks again.
