Hi guys,

I know there is this upgrade to Windows 10 icon on the bottom right of my Windows 7 screen but its not ready.

Besides, I prefer a fresh install rather than an upgrade so I came across: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 which allows you to download an ISO and burn to DVD and then do fresh Windows 10 install.

1 of the requirements are that I have a Windows product key of which I do have a Genuine one for Windows 7. Does that sentence mean I can use Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 product key and I can get Windows 10 for free as a fresh install or is it only free via the upgrade method and the fresh install needs a Windows 10 product key?

Cheers

Z

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Yep.... that pretty much sums it up.

Try doing the upgrade. It will automatically update and then you can get the key with 3rd party software. That key should work for a clean install on the same PC.

Haven't done it myself, but this is how it's been explained to me.
