Ok, I have a windows 7 laptop and I have been approved to upgrade to windows 10.
However the question that i have is:
I never updated my windows 7 to windows 10 because I have been waiting to get a new solid state hard drive.
I want to do a clean install on my new SSD drive without upgrading the windows 7 hard drive and cloning it to the new SSD
I have downloaded the windows 10 ISO so can i install this directly to my new SSD and use my Windows 7 product key?

Short answer..... Yes.
Provided the ISO you have is Win10_1511_English_x64.iso or the 32 bit equivalent it should support simply entering your Windows 7 product key when prompted and the install should complete and activate without issue.
The earlier public ISO of build 10240 did not support this.

How would i tell what version I downloaded, I do not remember.
I did download it on September 9th and I believe I downloaded it from a Microsoft site and I do know that it is x64
