keyboard not working

my keyboard works ok apart from when I am Word. the cursor does not move at all.
any ideas

Close Word restart Computer in Safe Mode (Shift Key down while restarting) sign in with password when requested. Let finish booting up. Run Word see if problem continued. If not Restart regularly. If symptoms continue. do the following:

go to Home Folder > Library > Preferences: look for com.microsoft.word.plist. remove to trash and empty. See if that fixes the issue.
