From out of the blue I started getting this little icon on my desktop. See attached photo.

I don't know if it is something Microsoft decided I needed or if somewhere I pressed a button.

As seen in the photo it is a gray icon.

I can trashcan it, but it keeps coming back.

Not a real problem, just a bit of a nuisance and I am curious about it. Anyone know something?

    Thanks for reading.

I would run a good malware scanner and follow up with an antivirus scan just to rule out those issues. I have never seen that before.

Maybe a browser extension or browser tool bar? Sorry I don't have a better answer as I have never seen this one before.

Download Adwcleaner from Malwarebytes and see if it will resolve/remove the lock.urls icon

No joy with Adwcleaner, sorry to say.
When I open myURL file the mysterious icon pops up.
I can delete it, but it comes back as soo as I open the file again.

It seems you not able to physically remove your problem from said advice. That said, I recommend you doing a clean install.
