SOLVED Locked out of my laptop because of Windows update

So last night, my laptop decided to download Windows 10 despite my repeatedly declining the free upgrade. And for several months I was using the 4 digit pin option to log in quickly. At any rate I thought I remembered my actual password but that doesn't seem to be the case so I'm locked out of my laptop (which I would normally not be worried about except for the fact that I have a paper to write rather urgently). What can I do to change my password and get back in.

if its a Microsoft account just try to login to Hotmail.com and do i forget my password to reset it
