I have Windows 10 and it came with an e- mail program called Mail that is inadequate. It does not have and address book etc.
I have also an e-mail that I like which is Windows Live Mail. The problem is that the Mail program keeps down loading all e-mail as does the Live Mail. Since the last automatic update for Windows 10, whenever an e-mail arrives at Mail it shows in the lower corner of the screen no matter what program I am using.
I want to uninstall the Mail program, but it is not listed in the Uninstall page. I have already received notice a number of times that my Mail program has to many e-mail and it is reaching the maximum.
Question: how can I neutralize the Mail program so that it does not receive any e-mail.
Thanks for any info.

It is limited in options, but it does have an address book - click the to silhouette figures on the left
Click the cogwheel, lower left. This will bring in your settings menu.
Select notifications and make sure you have it off.

I cannot give a solution for the mail reaching its limit. I thought that only happened on servers.

Windows Live Mail is dead. Died a couple of years ago.

I use Thunderbird, it just works and supports encryption.

I clicked the silhouette and got the following:

I suspect that he was talking about the head / body icon image on the "To:" line in the compose area near the top when you attempt to compose a new email, which in turn should evoke the "People" app which is the "new" contact list / address book.

I do not use the Mail program. I do not want it downloading e-mails, and most of all I do not it to be giving notification of e-mails received in the right lower corner when I am using the computer for something else that has nothing to do with e-mails

Those "notifications" can be turned off
Start Button (lower left corner of your screen "Windows Logo") -> Settings -> System -> Notifications and Actions
Scroll down to "Mail" change the slider to "Off"

Just to clarify. I did think it was obviously a reply to0 your complaints about MAIl, to which I was responding - not any other programs?
In MAIL, this is what I meant:

My wife loves Live Mail. She uses it constantly in Windows 10. It is alive and well.

Again. I told you how to turn them off in the MAIL program

I'm out of this thread.

Thank you. That solved the notification thing. I guess I have to live with Mail, go there once in a while and delete all the e-mails stored there.

Why not, if it is working, continue with it and ignore Windows 10 Mail? (Unless you can, of course, be happy with Windows mail and its limitations)
