Hi there, I just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Home and noticed that my administrator user is missing. My windows 7 operating system had two users (the administrator user which is a guest and a general user) but after the upgrade only the general user is accessible and to make matters worse I can't access any advanced settings on computer because I am not allowed access as the missing user is the administrator (Includes accessing the administrator command prompt, managing another user account etc.).

Please help me this missing user has important documents too.

Naitash I would double check your user accounts and make sure you are not already the Administrator.
Windows 10 creates 3 accounts, Administrator (Hidden) Administrator (User) and Guest (Hidden) If it is in fact a local user account, have you tried to clicking on the account to see if you can change the user account settings to Administrator or selecting "Manage (create) another user account. Naitash2 then changing the local Naitash account to Administrator?

This article may help you create another local Administrator account. Good Luck!

Hi Norton

I've tried everything in the suggested article and still nothing works. Now I can't even open my user account options which means I can't make any changes to anything anymore, I can't even reinstall the software cause I don't have any administrator rights to anything.

Maybe my only option is wiping my hard drive and that means me losing everything which sucks but I don't see any other options available.

It's a bit of a pain and not a little bit geeky but ....
You might be able to rescue your computer by enabling the normally hidden / disabled Administrator account and use that to possibly fix the password problem on your local user account.
You'll need to boot from the installation media. If you do not have the installation media on hand you can download the ISO from here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench
Once you have the ISO, you can use ImgBurn to burn it to a DVD or Rufus to burn it to a USB ThumbDrive, either of which you can use to boot your computer.
THEN...
Follow the steps outlined here
