Multiple Issues Have Suddenly Arose

Hello

I have windows 10 on a laptop. It takes application, such as Word, minutes to open, if at all, after clicking on task bar. Also, file explorer often hangs, and you cannot 'right click' on any file to use functions such as, 'Open With'. If one does, it does not respond.

Finally, tabs in Google Chrome also hang, and nothing can be done except wait. Any ideas?

Have you tried loading task manager and see what's running?

I would check the hard drive for failure.

^^^ what he said and if it is failing replace it with an SSD
Check the disk properties and tell us how full it is. Consider running Disk Cleanup, Consider doing a defrag.

I'd get rid of any AV and run defender only with Malwarebytes as a backup.

Thank you. I figured out that it was Google Chrome creating all the issues. Have downloaded Firefox since.

Google Chrome might be the cause of your tabs issue although I have never heard of that. But your other problems wouldn't be caused by Chrome. I would still check the HDD for problems. A failing HDD shows the exact same problems you are reporting.
