My Epson Stylus CX5500 Printer is in error state - how do I get Printer to print

Have you unplugged the power cord , counted to 30 and plugged back in and turned it on? Assuming you have tried everything else. I had to do this to an HP printer the other day which just would not work or even show on its inbuilt screen that is was unhappy.
