.ods default app not handled correctly

Files of type .ods (OpenOffice Calc – spreadsheet files) are treated as Excel files and opened in Excel.

Went to Settings >System >Default apps >Choose default apps by file type ... scrolled down to .ods and default app was OpenOffice Calc but when I used the File Explorer, all the .ods files had the Excel icon and opened in Excel.

Tried the Control Panel >Default Programs and the .ods files had the default app of OpenOffice Calc.

Is there a Windows 10 problem?

You may need to check the files themselves. Its possible if they have opened in Excel which is an application designed to handle .ods files that at some point auto-save has effectively renamed the file extension.

In File Explorer you can check the extensions box in the View tab, then take a look at those files to see whether they still have a .ods extension or whether its converted to .xls or something else. If that has happened you could rename the file and give it back its .ods extension which may resolve this issue.
