I have just spent a horrendous hour attempting to gain access to and OCR application and in the end I gave up. I'm now looking for a simple to install and simple to use Optical character recognition application.

Haven't needed it often but at one time I got WordPerfect Office and it included the IRIS OCR program, worked for my needs, still get periodic E-Mails offering upgrades.

Just wondered what do you use Optical Character Recognition for? I have software that really works great for reading text to voice, but do you want something that will translate text from an image to a .txt file?

I'm studying the way that the Parliamentary Labour Party dictates to the actual Labour Party rather than the other way round and I've come across a book with a 28 page bibliography that runs as normal text not even dividing entries into individual lines and all in 8 point. I figured that if I scanned the pages I would then be able to edit them thereby breaking the book titles into single lines and then enlarge them. I hope that makes sense.

I get it, I did have software that did this at one time, but it's been so long I can't remember what it was, I haven't tried the software I recommended, but you can try it for free and see if it works or not.

If it just has a time limit, you may be able to do what you want without paying for it.
