Hi, I have an hour laptop and yesterday I shut it down by just hitting the power button. Today when I tried to log on it went to my home screen with the date and time, but when I went to click the button to pull up the bar for me to type my password all it does is act like it's going to pull it up but then it doesn't. I've tried everything and NOTHING helps. Please some help. Thank you

Hi Nelia,

firstly, when you say "hit the power button", do you mean you simply pressed the power button until the PC went off, or do you mean you pressed it quickly?, if you press the power button quickly; you will most likely cause damage to your hard drive which won't help you with your problem!. ALWAYS PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL THE PC SHUTS DOWN (soft power down), NORMALLY AROUND 4 - 5 SECONDS!.

If you still have the USB/disk you used to install Windows, boot from the CD/USB stick and run the repair options (see link):
