Publisher 2010 will barely respond... What's going on?

Woke up to updates being installed. Trying to use MS Publisher 2010 to make a halloween card using an a template I downloaded. Every addition/correction takes seconds. You move a picture it stays where it is and jumps to the new location. Wish MS wouldn't change the wallpaper. It uses my data.

Did the update finish? You may experience slowdowns, depending on your PC and Network speed while updates are being downloaded and prepared in the background.

As for the background, you can go into the Personalization settings and choose a picture, it will never change. You have to check Background and Themes to make sure you are set right.
