Restore From System Image

. I want to change software on a backup laptop to be identical to my laptop. Making the system image on a portable HDD is OK but I cannot find any way of transferring it to the second unit. And I cannot restore it to my laptop either !!! Can it be done?? I have Win Version 10 build 10240.
