windows 10 will not back up to my 3TB seagate external hard drive- gives a semaphore error

I also have difficulty opening mp4 and jpg files on the seagate.

windows 10 needs a lot of time to recognize the drive at all.

how can i confirm all my photos and videos got on the seagate drive?
the drive does not go with the seagate dashboard-
is there a compatibility problem with windows 10, do I need a new EHD?

I have a 2 GB version of the drive and Win 10 handles it OK. It is configured as MBR but it would be interesting to see how the larger drive is configured. I would be concerned the system used some type of software to make it compatible with older systems which could not use a drive configured as GPT.

If you open Disk Management and right click on the Disk 1 or 0 part of the display you will see a menu which will show either convert to MBR or convert to GPT. Your drive is configured as the opposite of what that says.

You can not backup files into your external hard drive may be the problem of partition format. You can do a convert between MBR and GPT. I recommend you use the freeware AOMEI Partition Assistant to do the convert. Hope it helps.
