Can't open a MalwareBytes program.
If I run it in safe mode, when I turn on protection it automatically turns it off.
Tried several system restores but they are unsecussful.

Sounds like you may have a virus, does Malwarebytes run in a normal boot? is there a reason you're starting in safe mode, do you suspect a virus?
Run the safe mode with networking, and attempt to update Mambam signatures and see if it will run.

Further to Norton's great advice, you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling Malwarebytes..then try running it again.
But agreed, sounds like you've got a bug.

On a normal boot MalwareBytes loads up and its on the systems tray
but I can't launch the mbam.exe program or the update program.
I can't open the program from anywhere. It just flashes the
busy loop briefly and does nothing.

I tried the uninstall/reinstall and still could not open the program.

I did run the mbam.exe program in safe mode with networking and it opened.
However, and this really disturbs me, when I turn the protection settings
to on, they immediately turn off. I actually ran an mbam scan but showed 0 defects.

I ran Super Spyware scan but it didn't come up with any fix for my problem.

My current antivirus is defender which shows nothing.

I'm sure it's a bug but it seems to be targeted at MalwareBytes.
I’ve explored a lot of similar problems on line but yet to find any solution.

Thanks for your response,

George

OK George One more!
In the safe mode with networking, download Junk Removal Tool (JRT) from Mawarebytes and see if you can run it in the safe mode. JRT is a very effective program recommended by the Mambam Team. If it runs and removes crap, then see if you can run Malwarebytes
Malware Hunter is also worth downloading at this time, it too is very effective at sniffing out.

Thanks Bif, Norton; looks like MalwareBytes is working again.
Junk removal found two items and Malware Hunter was clean.
Restarted and tried all functions a couple of times and every
thing worked as it should, problem solved. (forget how to mark issue solved)

Many thanks,
George

George It's good to hear that your up and running. JRT reminds me of that little Beagle hound that used to be part of Windows 98 I think. If there is anything suspicious JRT will find it.
