I have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, and I'm trying to use them as a microphone for apps like Discord. However, they don’t show up as an option to select from the dropdown menu. I found that the headphones don’t appear under the "Recording" tab in the Sound Control Panel, but they do show up under the "Playback" tab.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, and even updating the drivers, but nothing has worked so far. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'd appreciate the help!

Your headphones not appearing as a microphone could be due to their Bluetooth profile settings. First, confirm they’re set to use the HFP (Hands-Free Profile) mode rather than A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). You can check this in your Bluetooth settings under the device properties.
If they’re only showing up under playback devices, try restarting both your headphones and your computer to refresh the connection.
