Synaptics driver problems; frozen arrow for about 20 seconds

I have posted about this before but there does not seem to be a solution - except for Sony laptops...

I have a synaptics SMBus touchpad in my PC Specialist laptop.

In Windows 10 after it wakes from sleep or is first turned on the mouse cursor/arrow is frozen for about 20 seconds after everything else is up and running.

I "rolled back the driver" and this seemed to solve the matter -- but 30 minutes later the driver was automatically updated by Microsoft... so I'm back to Square 1.

It's not a permanent fix but may break the 30 minute barrier for a while, until a better driver comes along.
