My taskbar button is unresponsive. When I click it nothing happens so I am in effect shut out of the programmes. What is the solution to this problem?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
By "taskbar button", do you mean the Windows Logo Icon / Start Button, or.....
Do you mean one of the other or all of the icons on the taskbar both left and right side?

I think this is the infamous Start Button and Task bar problem which I have and is still not solved after being on these forums for months. In my main user account the Task bar is not clickable (calendar, wi-fi, notices, etc.) and if I left click on the Start button I get the blue critical error message.

If you left click on the Start Button do you get an error message?

Right now I am working around this. I have set up another User account and made it an administrator account. I have transferred over my documents.

The next step when I have time will be to back up all documents and photos, etc. onto an external drive and then reset Windows 10 from scratch.
